It has taken me some time to write this to you, but I think and feel it is time for me to do this.
On April 9, 2007 my father passed away after along battle with his health. I know that you ran so many calls to his house and take fantastic care of him and transported him many, many times and those that were there will remember him.
His name is Lonnie Collier, we all love him and will miss him so very much. And I know that my son Eddie Godwin AKA as "Biggins" that is a volunteer at your station will miss him dearly and deeply.
His death was so very hard on all of us in the family he was far to young to go, God has his reasons for taking him and we don't question it or ask why. He had just turned 70 years old in March.
He was a wonderful, loving and caring man and enjoyed life and his family and loved us all and he loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren to death. Nothing meant more to him then family. I want you to know that every time that you were called to his aid that he had so very many, many great things to say of every one that aided him and how kind and gentle that every one was with him and his fragile little body.
I am so very grateful to each and every one at Lisbon V.F.D., and as a behind the scene's person but also a member of Damascus V.F.D. since 1993 but not very active any more due to my own personal reasons and health. I know and my husband David a FF III and an EMT himself and a member of Damascus V.F.D. and Hyattstown V.F.D. we know how very hard it is to see so much as you serve the public. We have seen our far share over the years.
I will ever be grateful to all volunteers around the world I know what they mean when they say it is a brother hood family, and because we are all a brother hood and a family through what we do as a volunteers and as a career person we are all linked together in one way or the other.
I will pray each and every day for all of you at Lisbon V.F.D. for what you did for my father, stepmother and the rest of my family.
Thank You and God Bless each and every one of you at Lisbon V.F.D.. And may we Bless and Pray for all Volunteer Fire and Career Personal all around the world.

I would like to say to the family how sorry I am for your loss. As a military wife I understand the risks our loved ones encounter each day. It seems that Joe Davis touched many lives. Although I did not know him I am sure that he is now looking down upon you all as you come together to celebrate his life. To his children, know your daddy Joe was a hero. And to his wife, I am so sorry you have to go through this. I pray that you have the support you need to get you and your children through this devastaing loss.

Loosing Joey has been very hard for me. It's been alittle over a month now and it does't seem real. It brings tears to my eyes when I think about Joey. I will miss him. Knowing that my friends at Lisbon are there for me has made it alittle easier. I thank all the members at Lisbon for all they did to help honor Joey for the Hero that he is. I sure have missed living in Lisbon and being at the firehouse with all the great people there. The other night when Joey was named Firefighter of The Year just proves how great the members are and makes me want to move back to Lisbon even more. I wish I could, but I will come back to see everone as much as I can.
Thank You Andy Davis

I knew Joey very well and its been a couple of days now since we laid him to rest and I still can't believe he's gone. He was a great person to know and I had the blessing of being a part of his life. I will always remember the days when Penny would be picking on me and Andy, Joey and sometimes Chris would come to my rescue. Now he is up there watching over us all. He will be missed but he will always live on in our hearts and our souls.

I wanted to express my family's appreciation for all the Lisbon VFC has done to honor our Joey. Yesterday we laid to rest one of the finest young people we will ever have the privilge to know. Our family has lost a shining star of our family, the community has lost an outstanding young man, the fire department has lost a special brother and the world has lost a true hero. Joey will live forever in our hearts and our memories of him will sustain us through our grief.
I also wanted to express my appreciation to all those of the Lisbon area who stood beside the roads as the procession wound its way from the church to the cemetery. I was touched beyond words to see them and the displays of love and support for Joey even though they might not have known him but honored for the man he was, the firefighter he was, the soldier he was and the hero he is.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I just wanted to express my condolenses to all of Joey's friends and family. I did not know Joey personally but I share two things in common with him. I served in the military for 5 years and was overseas back in 1991 and I am a volunteer firefighter with over 19 years of experience. Reading all the stories about Joey leave me to believe that he was an outstanding person and gave a lot of himself to help everyone who needed it. The world has truely lost a great person he will be greatly missed by all.

Please accept my condolences to the family and friends of Joe Davis. This young man died for his country which is the highest sacrifice that one can give. I personally did not know Joe but I have heard of the wonderful things he did for people and how many were close to him. I was a friend of his Mom who is a close friend of my sister. His mother, Josie, is one of the sweetest and nicest people I have ever met. I know that she and the rest of the family are grieving with their loss as are many of those who knew him. This young man is now in a better place and he will always be in the hearts of those who cared for him. We all need to take a moment in prayer for our brother who answered the call to arms and died a hero of the United States.

My children and I will miss him, as I know my brother and his wife will. Our families my not live close by anymore, but there is a strong bond of love in our family as we hope there will be someday world wide. That is what Joey and my husband and the

The news of Joey's death was devastating for our family. Joey had become a brother and a friend over the last 16 years. My brother Herman Stenger had pretty much adopted Joey, and whenever Herman needed anything for any reason, Joey was there. He was a wonderful person, and a great friend to my brother. Joey loved life, and it showed in everything he did. I'm not sure Joey ever said no to anyone. If you needed help; he was there. I know that this loss is huge for Herman. He truly considered Joey his "Adopted" son, and loved him as his own. We will all miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Davis family.
My family is very active in your fire department. Marshall Fleming is my Uncle, and Frank and John are my cousins. I believe Bernie and Brian Dennison have also been involved in the department. The Poplar Springs area is my home, and my home has lost a great person in Joey. I now live in Louisiana, but that area will always be my home. I will miss Joey, and feel the pain of his loss for a long time.
God Bless,
Dan Dennison
Our thoughts and prayers go out to your department and Joe's Family.
