On August 19th at approximately 07:00, Engine's 41, 131, Engine tanker 44, Tower 3, Paramedic's 136, 35, 45, Battalion Chief 2, EMS 2, and Safety 1 responded for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment in the area of the 14800 block of Old Frederick Road.
Engine 41 arrived to find a single vehicle, overturned into a pole with 1 occupant trapped, after a head on collision. The captain off of Engine 41 established the command. The crews of 41, 131 and Tower 3 went to work stabilizing the vehicle and began a total sidewall removal to extricate the patient.
Maryland State Police - Aviation Command Trooper 3 was requested to the scene for a priority 2 category C patient to transport to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. Engine tanker 44 handled the landing zone at the scene.
The driver of the second vehicle was transported to a local hospital by Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.
All units cleared the scene at approximately 08:00. |
